The Bayern Munich juggernaut was finally halted as they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Borussia Dortmund. The home side started the day ten points behind the leaders and needed a victory to keep within touching distance of the Bavarian Giants. Dortmund struggled to keep pace with Bayern in the early exchanges and were lucky not to fall behind in the 10th minute when a Leroy Sant thunderbolt was saved by their keeper. They weathered the early storm and eventually took the lead in the 27th minute through Jamie Gittens. The visitors continued to look for the equaliser and were determined not to lose their unbeaten record. They had to wait for the 85th minute to be rescued by their young super star, Jamal Musiala. The youngster headed home after a free kick to ensure the points were shared.
Leverkusen continue rise up table
Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen showed that they will not easily relinquish their title when they won for the second straight match. They overcame a stubborn Union Berlin side 2-1 on the road. It looked like it was going to be smooth sailing for the champions as they took the lead in just the 2nd minute thanks to a Jeremie Frimpong. The hosts were not going to just surrender and continued to attack the Leverkusen defence before they were rewarded in the 29th minute when Woo-Yeong Jeong equalised. Leverkusen who are unbeaten in their last 23 away league matches continued the streak when they scored in the 71th minute through Patrick Schick. They managed to keep Union at bay for the rest of the match and claim the crucial three points.
Eintracht Frankfurt climb into second spot
Eintracht Frankfurt won their fourth straight league match to climb into second spot, just four points behind Bayern. They easily saw off the challenge of Heidenheim 4-0, a result which took them past RB Leipzig. The Red Bull side’s slide has been nothing short of remarkable as they have not claimed just 1 point from their last four matches. They are now just a point ahead of fifth placed Borussia Dortmund. Frankfurt have been the form team for the past month and are the only side to have won their last four matches. They took an early lead through their Egyptian hitman Omar Marmoush and duly doubled their lead just after the halftime break. A further goal from Marmoush secured the points but they were not done yet as they scored a fourth goal late into injury time.
St.Pauli come out on top in relegation battle
Two relegation threatened sides, St. Pauli and Holstein Kiel went head to head in a survival battle with the former coming out victorious 3-1. It was the third win of the season for St. Pauli which took them to 11 points and out of the relegation zone. They have swapped places with Heidenheim who were thrashed 4-0 by in-form Eintracht Frankfurt. Bottom club Bochum remained the only team in the league without a win as they went down 1-0 to Augsburg. They are now eight points from safety and considering they only picked up two points all season, they seem certain to be relegated.

Race for the Golden Boot
The two horse race for the Golden Boot continued as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush scored a brace to take his tally to 13 for the season. He is just a goal behind Harry Kane who was forced to leave the field during Bayern’s match with Dortmund. If the English star is ruled out for any length of time, it will give Marmoush an ideal opportunity to take the lead on the scorers charts.Â
