04/02/2021 – Tottenham vs Chelsea Prediction

Yesterday was a pretty questionable day for bettors and neutral football fans alike. Some games played out as expected but we witnessed some shocks as well. The most surprising result saw reigning Premier League champions Liverpool lose to Brighton at Anfield for the first time in over three decades. We never saw that coming.

Moving to our tips from yesterday, three out of five wins played out correctly. Liverpool as earlier mentioned, suffered a surprise loss and Barcelona made a late comeback to spare their blushes against Granada.

For the over 2.5 goals picks, two out of four were correct as Napoli and Atalanta played out to a goalless stalemate and Brighton once again scored the only goal against Liverpool.

Moving on to the goal-scorer section, only Kylian Mbappe found the net as Messi, Salah and Politiano all drew blanks in their respective games.

We have a big London derby today in Tottenham vs Chelsea and we wouldn’t miss that for anything.

Tottenham vs Chelsea: Preview

Jose Mourinho and Thomas Tuchel face off in the dugout for the first time ever as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Chelsea to North London for an exciting capital derby on Thursday evening.

The two powerhouses have been in the title conversation during the 2020-21 campaign, but both Spurs and Chelsea are now seemingly focused on their top four prospects rather than an audacious bid for Premier League glory.

Hardly anything can separate the teams in the table ahead of this London derby, with seventh-placed Spurs – who have a game in hand – and eighth-placed Chelsea both boasting 33 points.

Thomas Tuchel’s new look Chelsea travel to Tottenham Hotspur looking to inflict more damage on Jose Mourinho’s out-of-sorts side.

Spurs endured a bad end to January, losing back-to-back matches at home to Liverpool and away to Brighton, and perhaps more importantly losing Harry Kane to injury. They are above Chelsea on goal difference and will hope to inflict a first defeat in three on new Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

Tottenham had been on an eight-match unbeaten run across all competitions before their 3-1 home defeat by Liverpool last week, a match in which they also lost star striker Harry Kane to injury.

Without Kane, Spurs looked a shadow of their usual selves, as they followed that defeat by becoming the first team to lose in the top-flight at Brighton this season on Sunday, when Mourinho described his side as “a team with sadness”.

Chelsea’s new head coach Thomas Tuchel has seen his new side collect four points from his two home matches at the helm, a goalless draw with Wolves and Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Thursday’s match is a tougher test, but Chelsea are unbeaten in the last four Premier League meetings between the two sides, winning three of those.

The reverse fixture, played at Stamford Bridge back in November, was a drab affair which saw Chelsea play out a goalless stalemate with Tottenham. However, we’re expecting an eventful game in North London tonight. We’ll be bringing you the best of tips as we usually do.

Over 2.5 Goals

Our main reason for this tip is Chelsea and their new boss Thomas Tuchel. Bar the goalless stalemate with United back in October. Most of Chelsea’s ‘big games’ this season have seen over 2.5 goals. Their two most recent ones include defeats to both Manchester City and Arsenal by the same 3-1 score-line. We’re not saying the Blues will lose but we’re saying there is a high tendency for goals. Tottenham will also be aiming to bounce back from their loss to Brighton and that should make things interesting. Bet365 have 2.00 odds, Bet9ja have 2.02 and 1xbet have 2.09.

Double Chance – Yes

Many big games this season have ended in draws and even goalless stalemates but we don’t see that happening today. We’re most likely going to see a winner after 90 minutes and we’re tipping that to happen as well. It’s not a game where both teams will sit back all through and we should see some lively stuff.Bet9ja have 1.27 odds, Bet365 have 1.30 and 1xbet have 1.35.

Potential Goalscorer (Tottenham)

Son

Son has blanked in his last four games but he could be fired up to get back in the goals today. With talisman Harry Kane now injured, the South Korean will have to carry the burden of goal-scoring at the moment and that could be some extra motivation to perform. Either from a counter or via individual brilliance, he is a top shout to score today. Bet9ja have 2.50 odds for him to score while Bet365 have theirs at 2.60.

Bale

The injury to Kane means Bale could get some game-time at the moment. He is expected to start tonight and he will always remain a threat despite the fact that he has struggled since his return to Tottenham. Going by history, he has a good record in this game and you can’t write him off just yet. Bet9ja have 3.50 odds while Bet365 have it better at 3.75.

Potential Goalscorer (Chelsea)

Tammy Abraham

The Englishman man has not scored in the Premier League for his past four games but he recently bagged a hat-trick in the FA Cup. As it stands, Tuchel is yet to stick with a single Chelsea striker and we don’t know who he might go with for this game. However, Tammy Abraham is a top candidate to bag a goal if he does get the nod in north London. Bet365 have 2.40 odds while Bet9ja have theirs at 2.50.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

The youngster has benefitted from Thomas Tuchel’s appointment and has started all games under the German manager. Hudson-Odoi always looks threatening for Chelsea whenever he’s on the ball and it won’t be a surprise to see him bag a goal tonight. There is value here with Bet365 offering 3.40 odds and Bet9ja putting theirs at 4.25 for him to score.
