Wolves vs Liverpool Tips and Prediction

Preview

Wolves have endured a massively underwhelming season so far, having managed to win just 9 of their 28 Premier League games till date. Such an average record has invariably left them in the lower mid-table, with 18th-placed Fulham just nine points adrift. Their most recent run has hardly been positive, with Nuno Espirito Santo & co. failing to win each of their last three games.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have been a mess in the defence of their Premier League crown, particularly since the turn of the year. The Reds have won just three of their 12 top-flight outings in 2021, shockingly losing 8 of those fixtures including the last two. Suffice to say, Jurgen Klopp’s men have slowly been sliding down the table, currently placed 8th in the standings, 8 points shy of 4th-placed Chelsea.

Liverpool will be looking to get their Premier League top-four hopes back on track when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Monday night.

The reverse fixture, played at Anfield back in December, saw Liverpool cruise to a 4-0 win over Wolves.

The champions have plummeted down to eighth in the table courtesy of a dreadful run of form since the turn of the year. They’ll be aiming to salvage something from their season.

How the match could go

Liverpool have had occasional wins in recent weeks which they have been unable to then build upon, but time is running out for them to turn their desperate domestic form around now.

We therefore expect them to pick up where they left off against RB Leipzig in midweek and continue an away record which, in spite of their general recent form, has seen them win five of their last six games away from Anfield. At the very worst, Liverpool should not lose this one.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals

With Anfield turning from a fortress to a sandcastle this year, an away day might suit Liverpool, as each of their last four league wins have come on the road, via an average margin of 3.25 goals. Additionally, Liverpool have never lost a PL match at Molineux (W4, D2), and you would have to go back to August 1981 for the Reds’ last league defeat on this ground. Liverpool should dominate proceedings here, alongside the odd chance of Wolves equally grabbing a goal on the evening as well. Bet9ja have 1.95 odds, Bet365 have 2.00 and 1xbet have 2.03.

Both teams to score: YES

Wolves might be on poor form at the moment but we still know the quality they possess. Liverpool remain favorites to win this one but their ever-changing backline means the Reds have only kept one clean sheet in their last six league outings. It is a game where Liverpool could win but Wolves would get on the score-sheet as well. Bet9ja have 1.87 odds while Bet365 and 1xbet have 1.95.

Double Chance

Given the poor league form of both sides over recent games, we expect one side to give something away. A draw is rather unlikely and we expect to see a winner after 90 minutes. Bet9ja and Bet365 have 1.25 odds while 1xbet have 1.29.

Anytime Goal-scorer (Wolves)

Pedro Neto

He is Wolves’ top scorer in the Premier League and has been their most consistent performer over recent games. He has shown couple moments of brilliance, such as the one against Arsenal. If Wolves will stand a chance of upsetting Liverpool, he’ll play a big part in that. Bet365 have 4.00 odds for him to score while Bet9ja have it slightly better at 5.00.

Ruben Neves

Rúben Neves has netted in three of Wolves’ last seven league games, and each of his last four PL strikes have been the game’s second goal on each day. If Wolves manage to get a penalty or a free-kick in a good position perhaps, he could have a good chance at scoring. Bet9ja have 6.50 odds while Bet365 have 7.50.

Anytime Goal-scorer (Liverpool)

Mohamed Salah

Despite his recent lack of goals in the Premier League, he remains the top-scorer and leads the way in the golden boot race with 17 goals to his name.  He has bagged 25 goals in all competitions this season and remains Liverpool’s top source for goals. He also comes into this game with good confidence, having scored against Leipzig in midweek.  Bet365 have 1.80 odds while Bet9ja have 2.10.

Sadio Mane

Similar to Salah, Sadio Mané also scored for Liverpool against Leipzig and nobody has netted more often in this Premier League head-to-head than he has (three goals). He might not have been at his prolific best this season but he remains a bright spark while on the ball upfront. Bet365 have 2.50 odds while  Bet365 have 3.00.

Barcelona vs Huesca Tips and Prediction

Preview

Barcelona will be looking to make it four La Liga wins in a row when they continue their domestic campaign at home to struggling Huesca on Monday night.

Ronald Koeman’s side are currently second in the table, six points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, while Huesca are rock bottom of Spain’s top flight, having picked up just 20 points from 26 matches.

Huesca have only won one of their 13 away league matches this season, but they have lost just six times, which is the same as sixth-placed Real Betis on their travels.

Pacheta’s team will be the huge underdogs entering Monday’s clash, but a record of four points from their last three matches should hand them confidence as they bid to escape the bottom three.

How the match could go

Huesca have only lost 12 of their 26 league matches this season, which is not a disastrous record considering their position in the table. The visitors could make it an uncomfortable evening for Barca, but we fully expect Koeman’s side to continue their impressive run of form in La Liga with another victory.

Tip: Barcelona win

Unbeaten in the league since the start of December, Barca, who recorded a 2-0 victory at Osasuna last weekend, have won 10 of their last 11 in Spain’s top flight to rise into second position in the table, six points behind leaders Atletico. With the La Liga title now realistically in sight, we don’t expect Barca to slow down and we see them blowing away their opposition who have been largely inconsistent this season. Bet9ja and Bet365 have 1.18 odds while 1xbet have 1.21.

Over 2.5 goals

Given the venue, it could be another high-scoring result. Excluding the 1-1 draw with Cadiz, Barcelona have scored at least three goals alone in two out of their last three games at Camp Nou, including a 5-1 win over Alaves. Given the confidence of the Catalans at the moment, we could yet see a good number of goals today. Bet9ja have 1.34 odds while Bet365 and 1xbet have 1.36.

Anytime Goal-scorer (Barcelona)

Messi

Lionel Messi scored a brace in Barcelona’s famous 8-2 win over Huesca two seasons ago. The Argentine maestro also comes into this game with good form, having scored in the 1-1 draw against PSG in midweek. Messi also leads the La Liga scoring chart with 19 goals and that should motivate him to remain prolific in front of goal. Bet365 have 1.36 odds while Bet9ja have 1.50.

Griezmann

The Frenchman has not been at his prolific best of late but remains Barcelona’s next best goal-scorer in La Liga with seven goals to his name. In the exception of Messi, he is the next likely name to get a goal. Bet365 have 1.61 odds while Bet9ja have 2.27.
