Last week, Inter Milan made a significant advancement into the Champions League Final, and it will be expected of them to finish the job in midweek against archrival AC Milan.
Inter has “home advantage” in the second leg of the semifinal at the San Siro. They effectively finished the job last week with their 2-0 victory there. A goal blitz early on proved to be too much for AC, albeit it could have been more. It’s been a nightmare week for AC Milan recently. Milan’s Champions League hopes for next season then took a serious dent when they went down to another 2-0 defeat at Spezia.
Inter Milan vs AC Milan
Inter’s convincing victory against Milan in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal was more evidence of their great play in the last stretch of the season. The Nerazzurri gained a significant lead after just 10 minutes of play with two goals from Dzeko and Mkhitaryan.
A few minutes later, they had a third goal opportunity. Inter was a far better squad overall. They extended their string of victories in the previous Serie A round, defeating Sassuolo 4-2 to maintain third position in the standings.
The Champions League semifinalist may not participate in this tournament the following year. Aside from the excruciating loss in the first leg of the semifinal, Milan also struggled in Serie A.
Spezia defeated Milan 2-0 despite being the clear favorite, dropping Milan to fifth place in the standings with only 3 points more than Atalanta and Roma. As a result, the Europa League spot is still up in the air. Extremely challenging days for AC Milan.
Verdict
The past three encounters between these two clubs were won by Inter, who provide decent value for an easy victory. However, considering that Simone Inzaghi’s squad has only kept one clean sheet in their last six home games, it may be risky to choose a winner for the hosts.
While Inter has enough attacking talent and is playing with enough confidence to outgun their Derby della Madonnina rivals as the designated home side at their shared ground even if they do fall behind, Milan may have been blank in the first leg but they will have to take some risks going forward on Tuesday.
Inter is now in a very good situation. They have a capital advantage from the first match, but they must not relax too much. On paper, these are very equal teams, but Milan showed great impotence in the first match with barely a couple of chances and potential opportunities to score.
The attack is expected to be somewhat more efficient in this match. Inter certainly won’t just defend and this could turn into a somewhat more attractive match than the one 7 days ago. We expect goals on both sides and Both teams scores seem like a very good betting option
Given that he has five goals and two assists in his past five games, Lautaro Martinez stands out as a potential goal scorer for Inter. The Argentine international scored against Sassuolo and should be reasonably fresh going into Tuesday’s game after just playing for 45 minutes against the Neroverdi. He can open his European scoring tally in this rivalry match.
