17/02/2021 – Champions League Predictions

Yesterday was quite the day in the Champions League. We did get a good number of predictions right but we got one awfully wrong. Mbappe stole all the headlines with a hat-trick at Camp Nou to inspire to a 4-1 victory over the Catalans.  We’re all set for an interesting leg at the Parc des Princes.

For the Liverpool Leipzig game, both teams failed to score and we failed to see over 2.5 goals. However, we did see Salah get on the score-sheet and we predicted that one right.

Two interesting ties in the Champions League are on the cards today and if yesterday is anything to go by, we have an interesting night to look forward to.

Porto vs Juventus Prediction and Tips

Preview

The reigning champions of Portugal and Italy go head-to-head at Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday evening, with Porto hosting Juventus as the Champions League returns.

Juventus ended their group stage as leaders of Group G, finishing above La Liga giants Barcelona due to a superior head-to-head record. While Andrea Pirlo’s men have been in good nick since the turn of the year, they head into Wednesday’s game desperate to win, having failed to do so in their last two matches in all competitions, most recently losing 1-0 to Napoli in Serie A.

Porto, meanwhile, finished as comfortable runners-up in Group C behind Manchester City, losing just one of their six games in the first round. Sergio Conceicao’s men have not won any of their last four games across all competitions, with each of them ending in draws, the most recent one being a 2-2 stalemate against Boavista. They will be hoping to end that run against Juventus.

Hired specifically with leading Juventus to continental glory in mind, Ronaldo is seeking to embellish his glittering personal record with a sixth European crown this season. He will face  a long-time teammate and friend in Porto’s Pepe.

Tip: Juventus to Win

Juventus are currently placed fourth in the race to retain their title and are coming back from a disappointing loss away to Napoli in the League. They have performed really well in their cup competitions this season and are eyeing the Champions League trophy. Opponents Porto are on a 3-game drawing streak and stand no chance against a determined Juve side. With the Ronaldo effect in the UCL knockout games, they are the likely winners. Bet365 have 2.05 odds, Bet9ja have 2.10 and 1xbet have 2.13

Over 2.5

Porto have conceded at least a goal in their last three games showing their lack of a proper defence playing well in the hands of Juventus. Juventus have scored more than 2 goals in three of their last four games presently which make this pick a proper one. The presence of Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be overstated as he is the one not to disappoint. Bet365 have 2.20 odds, Bet9ja have 2.20 and 1xbet have 2.30

Anytime Goal-scorer (Juventus)

Ronaldo

Ronaldo has been in top form this season, with him being the top scorer in the Italian Serie A this season and also among the top scorers in the competition this season. In his bid for the Old Lady to taste Champions League greatness yet again, he would likely do that with a goal tonight. Bet365 have 1.90 odds and Bet9ja have 2.20 odds.

Alvaro Morata

Morata is presently among the joint top scorers in the competition with his six goals already. He has been impressive in the competition netting superb and vital goals earning them the top spot in their group. He seems to have chemistry present when playing with Ronaldo and we know both of them are dangerous against any side. Bet365 have 2.60 odds and Bet9ja have 2.75 odds.

Anytime Goal-scorer (Porto)

Sergio Oliveira

Another Portuguese player on the opponent’s side of this matchup has been impressive for his Porto team this season. The joint second-most goals scored in the Portuguese league this season tying with his teammate. He is the one most likely to score if Porto is looking to win. Bet365 have 4.00 odds and Bet9ja have 5.75 odds.

M.Taremi

The player tying fellow teammate Oliveira with the most goals for his team in the league is also selected. We had to add him to our tips because he has been in fine form in the league. Although he has no goals yet in this competition, he is highly likely to score if Porto wants to win against Juventus. Bet365 have 3.50 odds and Bet9ja have 3.60 odds.

Sevilla vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction and Tips

Preview

Sevilla take on Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 knockout tie at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The two clubs have not met since the group stage of the Europa League in the 2009-10 season, with both still looking to establish themselves at Europe’s top table.

In what has largely been a dire start to 2021, Borussia Dortmund fans and players alike were supplied with some positive news in midweek after the club announced the appointment of Marco Rose. That could perhaps inspire them back to winning ways.

Last season’s Europa League champions Sevilla, however, are far from an easy opponent, having announced themselves as a sturdy bunch under the leadership of Julen Lopetegui. Unlike the Black and Yellows, the Spanish giants have been doing well in the domestic league as well, and along with FC Barcelona, they are currently the most in-form team in the division.

As a matter of fact, Sevilla are yet to lose or draw a single game in any competition since their 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in early January. Dortmund, in contrast, have won just one of their last six Bundesliga matches, which has not only derailed their title challenge but has also made them mere outsiders in the race for the top four spots.

Tip: Both Teams to Score: Yes

Sevilla and Dortmund have some of the best goal scorers in their respective leagues this season. The strikers of both teams hit the mark in their recent games. The Champions League isn’t any different for both sides as they have also scored a large number of goals against the opposition. Bet365 have 1.66 odds, Bet9ja have 1.62 and 1xbet have 1.72

Over 2.5 Goals

While both teams have been tipped to score on both sides, we can’t totally predict how many goals would come out of this match. Both sides have scored more than a goal in their last 3 games making them both prolific in front of goal. They would both be looking to get the advantage in the first leg. Bet365 have 1.90 odds, Bet9ja have 1.82 and 1xbet have 1.91.

Anytime Goal-scorer (Sevilla)

El-Nesyri

The main man for this Sevilla side, he has been influential already this season with over ten goals already in the league alone. He has also scored four goals already in the Champions League making him seem at home at this Sevilla side just in the first year. He is going to show his money’s worth yet again. Bet365 have 2.37 odds and Bet9ja have 2.40 odds.

Lucas Ocampos

The Argentine has been vital for Sevilla in his first season signed for the club. His inspirational performances have helped Sevilla to the Copa Del Rey semifinal. He was out for some weeks but he’s back to his top form and he is sure to put up an impressive performance yet again.

Anytime Goal-scorer (Dortmund)

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland returned from a bad injury and seemed to be back on form scoring in 3 of his last 4 games to the dismay of Sevilla today. With 15 goals in the Bundesliga and six already in the Champions League, no one can stop him from scoring. He would be very hard to contain and he is most likely to get more than a goal tonight, here are the odds Bet365 have 1.90 odds and Bet9ja have 2.55 odds.

Jadon Sancho

After Haaland, the Englishman is perhaps the next best attacking threat at the club. Sancho has shown very envious chemistry with the Norwegian this season which has made them the talk of Europe. Sancho doesn’t just provide the assists but he is more likely to score as he has proved to be dangerous in front of goal recently. Bet365 have 3.40 odds and Bet9ja have 3.85 odds.
