Betting Tips
When Nigeria plays Sierra Leone in an eagerly anticipated AFCON qualifier, they will be attempting to maintain their lead in Group A. Although Moses Simon of Nantes scored the game-winning goal at Estadio 24 de Setembro for the Super Eagles, they still haven’t finished the job.
The Super Eagles performed well to exact revenge on Guinea Bissau. The Leone Stars, on the other hand, sorely needed a victory over Sao Tome and Principe, and they were able to do so, keeping their chances of qualifying for the tournament alive. However, Sierra Leone will face a far larger opponent in Nigeria.
Sierra Leonne vs Nigeria
First off, because Sierra Leone has not been permitted by the Confederation of African Football to host matches, Saturday’s game would be played in Liberia. The Leone Stars had a difficult start to the season with only two points from their first four games, but their recent 2-0 victory over So Tomé and Principe have given them a good chance to advance to AFCON 2023.
John Keister’s team doesn’t have complete confidence in themselves, though, as they must win their final two games while hoping that either Nigeria or Guinea-Bissau will concede.
Nigeria only needs one victory to secure its spot in the 2023 AFCON competition, which will be held in Côte d’Ivoire. Since winning the competition in 2013, the Super Eagles have struggled to live up to expectations, but nine points through four games is a promising start.
The roster for Peseiro includes players like Victor Osimhen of Napoli, Alex Iwobi of Everton, Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal, Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest, William Troost-Ekong of Watford, and Ahmed Musa of Sivasspor, among others. The team of Peseiro has already started training again as they get ready for the AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone scheduled for June 18.
Verdict
Nigeria has top-notch players in every area of the field. In their last ten AFCON Qualifiers, the Eagles have only lost one game. They have seven victories and five clean sheets throughout this time.
With only one victory in their last ten AFCON qualification games, Sierra Leone hasn’t done well in this competition lately. Given that the Leone Stars also have a dismal record against Nigeria, with only one victory in the previous seven games, placing a wager on an “away win” may be worthwhile.
We expect a tough game for both teams. Sierra Leone needs this match more than Nigeria because they sit in the third position in the Group.
The Super Eagles should be too strong for them. Just like the reverse fixture, A similar outcome on Sunday, a close match. However, Nigeria should overcome the odds stacked against them and pick up a ticket to Ivory Coast here today.
Goals have come easy for both teams this campaign with a lot of fightback in previous fixtures. The Nigerian squad has been bolstered with a lot of attacking talent here and we expect it to be on full display. Both sides have a lot to fight for here and a pragmatic approach from both teams won’t be favorable. More than two goals are definitely going to be on the scoreboard today with the stakes involved
