19-04-23 Daily Football Predictions: Wins for Manchester City and others

Betting Tips

This week, Manchester City will face a challenging trip to Bayern Munich as they attempt to comfortably advance to the Champions League semifinals.

The outstanding first-leg performance by Pep Guardiola’s club gives them a 3-0 aggregate lead over a very uneasy Bayern team under new coach Thomas Tuchel, sending them to Bavaria.

Bayern Munich vs Manchester City

By their standards, the Bavarian giants are having a bad season, so they should consider themselves fortunate that Hoffenheim’s home draw with Bayern at the weekend prevented Borussia Dortmund from overtaking them as league leaders.

In the first leg at the Etihad, they were forensically dismantled by a clinical City squad, who defeated them 3-0. As if that weren’t terrible enough, new manager Thomas Tuchel is dealing with the fallout from the unbelievable incident in which Sadio Mane leathered teammate Leroy Sane after the defeat.

Mane was given a suspension over the weekend, and although he will play on Wednesday, things at the Allianz Arena don’t appear to be looking good.

In the final stretch of the season, City is unnervingly in great form and defeated Leicester City at the weekend for their tenth straight victory across all competitions. They will also be hot favorites to hold onto and possibly even expand a three-goal lead.

Verdict

In the first leg, Manchester City demonstrated the level of class they possess, and a second match in which Bayern Munich will be required to be slightly more expansive doesn’t lend itself to containing that talent. Additionally, it should be noted Manchester City has won nine straight games while Bayern Munich has lost three of its previous five.

Everything points to Man City winning again. In four of their last five games, Bayern Munich has been above that mark, while each of Manchester City’s last five contests has seen them surpass the 2.5 mark. Three of the last five head-to-head contests between these teams have also exceeded the 2.5 cutoff point.

Inter Milan vs Benfica

Inter’s primary objective this season will be to finish in the top four spots due to their recent dismal Serie A performance. They were in second position just a few rounds ago, but they slipped to fifth place after picking up just one point in their last five Serie A games.

The Italian side is currently behind AC Milan and AS Roma on the league standings. Inter, on the other hand, has excelled in both the Cup and the Champions League. In the Cup, they drew 1:1 on the road in the first leg of the semifinals against Juventus and will be in a strong position going into the second leg.

In the Champions League, Inter defeated Porto 1:0 overall to eliminate another Portuguese team. Therefore, Inter could still have a successful season even though they won’t win the Scudetto this year.

With four points more than FC Porto in second place, Benfica now occupies the top spot in the Portuguese league. They only lost three games in the 28 rounds of the domestic league, but two of those came in the final two rounds.

We can state with sure that this is the team’s lowest point since the season began after those two defeats and a Champions League loss to Inter.

Verdict

Inter Milan secured an excellent win in Portugal during the middle of the week, and they’ll be confident of completing the task when Benfica visits the San Siro. Even though Inter may have won the first leg, the game was close, and recent performance trends make picking a winner difficult. Inter has lost two of their previous five home games and won three, with three of those games being decided by only one goal.

In contrast, Benfica has triumphed in each of their last four away games to demonstrate that they are no pushovers. Naturally, Inter will accept a draw at any time.

Inter have gone under that 2.5 threshold in each of their last four home matches with a game average of just 1.3 goals per game. Benfica meanwhile has gone south of the 2.5 cut-offs in four of their past five away games; they’ve averaged 2.0 goals per game in that time.
