19-08-23 Daily Football Predictions: Tottenham vs Manchester United

Betting Tips

Tottenham Hotspur will host Manchester United at their North London stadium on Saturday night in the season’s opening game week of 23/24. Last weekend, Ange Postecoglou’s team opened their new season with a 2-2 draw away to London rivals Brentford.

The Spurs’ draw away at Brentford showed a lot of encouraging signs as they adjusted to life without Harry Kane.  In a contentious matchup, the Red Devils defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0. On Monday, they narrowly defeated Wolves in a contentious manner while not exactly playing at their best.

Tottenham vs Manchester United

Fans of Tottenham Hotspur briefly experienced hope. Harry Kane’s future was always going to depend on what happened last week, and there were rumors that he was considering staying in north London at one time. Kane ultimately chose to twist rather than stick, though. Last weekend, his transfer to Bayern Munich was made official as England’s captain made the decision to join one of the continent’s top teams. He is a loss for Tottenham as well as the Premier League as a whole.

Despite not playing well for the entire game’s ninety minutes, Spurs did occasionally shine. It will take a few weeks or even months for the team to fully adapt to Postecoglou’s coaching style, but it is obvious that the Australian has the support of both the players and the fans.

Raphael Varane’s header gave Manchester United a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers to start the new year. However, there is no denying that United were incredibly fortunate. On Monday, Wolves were the superior team. More than any other visiting side in Premier League history, they took a total of 23 shots. Toward the end of the game, they were also denied what appeared to be a clear-cut penalty.

Wolves’ carelessness in front of the net and poor refereeing judgment were the only factors that prevented United from earning all three points. Erik ten Hag, whose team is anticipated to go closer to winning the Premier League this season, will have been troubled by their performance despite the outcome.

Verdict

The new Tottenham boss will be expected to put on a show this season, with the Australian known for his attack-minded, high-pressing style of play.

That was undoubtedly the case in the thrilling tie between Spurs and Brentford last weekend, in which both teams scored four goals in the opening period. Spurs experienced a lot of BTTS and over 2.5 goal results throughout the preseason, with both results occurring in all four summer friendlies.

Manchester United arrived in London after eking out a 1:0 victory over Wolves on Monday with some defensive uncertainty and nervousness. Despite retaining their first unblemished record in six games, United was fortunate not to give up a goal, and with Spurs only having failed to score in two of their previous 22 home league games, they are unlikely to do so again.

Recent meetings between these parties have frequently resulted in high-scoring events. Since July 2019, seven of their past nine games have included at least three match goals, and seven have had BTTS. On Saturday, both scenarios appeared highly plausible given Spurs’ performance both at the close of the previous campaign and in their preseason.
