20-04-23 Daily Football Predictions: Wins for Manchester United and others

Betting Tips

The first leg at Old Trafford was the typical “game of two halves,” with the Red Devils looking good with their 2-0 lead at the interval. However, the six-time champions of this league, Sevilla, were able to mount a dramatic late comeback through two own goals.

Erik ten Hag’s team tends to depend more on Marcus Rashford’s goals when they are away from home, so it is unclear if they will have enough firepower to advance to the round of four when they travel to Seville, where their opponents have won seven of their last nine games at home.

Sevilla vs Manchester United

Marcel Sabitzer’s two goals in the first half gave United a two-goal lead. But in addition to losing crucial defender Lisandro Martinez to injury, they also allowed Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire to score two own goals in the closing six minutes.

It means that everything is still up for grabs in Andalusia, and the competition’s six-time winners will be feeling confident about their prospects against the 2/1 tournament favorites.

With a very easy victory over Nottingham Forest over the weekend, United returned to winning ways. They may also take solace in the fact that they overcame Real Betis by a score of 1-0 during their previous visit to Seville.

They have, however, also put on a few horror performances while traveling, most notably against Liverpool and Newcastle United, so they will be mindful of their hosts at a jam-packed Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

One of the busiest Spanish arenas is Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Real Madrid and Barcelona have historically lost too many games in La Liga. However, that was back when Sevilla was a top-tier team.

Nothing about the 13th-place finish in La Liga screams victory, and given that the Red Devils have already defeated two Spanish clubs in the Europa League, we’re confident that Sevilla will lose on Thursday. Even though the first meeting between the two sides finished in a 2-2 draw, Erik ten Haag’s team only managed two unfortunate own goals.

Another piece of advice is that both teams should score at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. It shouldn’t be too challenging considering how beautiful the first leg of this Europa League quarterfinal ended—2-2. We saw 25 shots on goal in the 90 minutes of play at Old Trafford, so there could have been more goals!

Not only that, but Sevilla and Manchester United both scored in the two previous meetings between the teams. The only match between these two teams that didn’t finish in a BTTS took place on February 21st, 2018, and it resulted in a scoreless draw at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Roma vs Feyenoord

This Thursday at Olimpico Stadium in Rome, an explosive Europa League match between AS Roma and Feyenoord will take place. The Dutch team had a 1-0 advantage after the first encounter, in which Roma didn’t play well but managed to escape with a little disadvantage.

Both Jose Mourinho’s team and Feyenoord, who also defeated its domestic rivals, had strong openings for this matchup this past weekend. This matchup features two teams that battled in the Europa Conference League championships last year in addition to the Europa League semifinals, adding to the drama.

Apart from the mentioned clashes, Roma and Feyenoord measured their strengths and twice more in the Europa League in 2015, where the Italian side was better on aggregate 3-2 in the first round of the knockout phase. We hope that the second leg will bring us much more excitement this time as well, like eight years ago.

The Dutch won 1-0 in the first leg of this Europa League quarterfinal match between Roma and Feyenoord. The game’s lone goal was scored by Mats Wieffer, but he sure took his sweet time. In the game’s 53rd minute, the winning goal was scored. On February 26, 2015, the other contest between the two teams was played. After the first 45 minutes, neither team scored. There were no goals in the opening period, despite Roma winning 1-2 in the Netherlands. The first half of Thursday’s matchup will undoubtedly serve primarily as a reconnaissance mission, and the two managers will likely want to take it easy.

The hosts are much more offensive-minded at home than on the road, and in this case, they need to attack to catch up with the deficit.

Tip: First half Under 0.5 goals/ Total Over 2.5 goals

Sporting CP vs Juventus

Juventus will travel to Lisbon with a deserved 1-0 lead and is expected to keep Sporting scoreless in the Europa League second match.

Although they drew their previous two matches at Estadio Jose Alvalade against Midtjylland and Arsenal, the Lions were quite active in Turin.  Juve is counting on winning this trophy to qualify for the Champions League again the following year.

A top-four finish is doubtful as a result of their 15-point Serie A deduction and away losses to Lazio and Sassuolo after defeating Sporting. The team’s dismal domestic road record includes six losses in 15 games, only 13 goals scored, and an equal amount of goals allowed.

They also dropped all three of their away games during the Champions League group stage, but they defeated Nantes and Freiburg convincingly at home during this competition.

Tip: Juventus to Win/ BTTS (YES)
