Our favorite competition is here again. Finally, the Champions League is back on our screens once again. As bettors would know by now, this is one of the best competitors to have a go at the bookies. Of course, every competition can bring its own share of setbacks but the opening stages are still pretty straightforward and usually follow the script to a certain extent.
We have some mouth-watering ties in wait already and many to come in the Champions League group stage. While you ponder about what to make of today’s games, here are some of the best tips for today’s action.
PSG vs Manchester United Prediction
PSG began the season with a disastrous 1-0 home defeat by long-term rivals Olympique de Marseille, in a match overshadowed by a mass brawl and three red cards for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
It’s fair to say that they’ve bounced back strongly since then, however, with five consecutive top flight victories.
Most worryingly for United, perhaps, they’ve scored 16 goals during that period, conceding just once—in a 6-1 rout of Angers.
United have already come unstuck this term, notably falling 3-1 to Crystal Palace in their opener, and later being on the wrong side of a 6-1 scoreline of their own—this time against Tottenham Hotspur.
After falling behind against Newcastle United on Saturday, however, there were concerns that they were set for another poor result, but quality shone through and they ran out 4-1 winners following a late rally.
PSG win
The Round of 16 meeting between the two clubs in the 2018-19 season was the only previous showing between these two, and on that occasion, United had the last laugh.
Following a 2-0 victory for Paris in the first leg, Marcus Rashford’s 90th-minute penalty secured a 3-1 triumph for United at the Parc des Princes, sending Solskjaer’s side through to the quarter-finals.
However, this is a different time altogether. PSG will be boosted by their recent success in the competition which saw them reach last season’s final. PSG look to be the more stable side at the moment and United will also be missing key members in Maguire and Mason Greenwood. Cavani is still not fit to start for the Red Devils.
Also, the Parc des Princes has been something of a fortress for PSG and we’re backing last season finalists to win the Premier League outfit. Bet365 offer odds of 1.55, Bet9a have odds of 1.58 and BetKing offer odds of 1.60.
Over 2.5
Without much explanation, it’s easy to see why this game could well bring lots of goals. Asides the tendency of both sides to attack, they are also susceptible at the back as well. There is actually a good chance both sides could have a good run at goals. Bet9ja offer odds of 1.40, BetKing offer odds of 1.44 and Bet365 have odds of 1.45.
Straight wins
Juventus travel to Dynamo Kyiv for the first game of their Champions League campaign. The Bianconeri will be without Cristiano Ronaldo who continues to recover from coronavirus .Regardless; we are backing the Bianconeri to claim a win. They were held by Crotone at the weekend and will be eager to get back to winning ways. Kyiv are on decent form at the moment and we expect a tough encounter. BetKing offer odds of 1.80, Bet9ja have odds of 1.85 and Bet365 have odds of 1.87.
In the second game of group G, Barcelona welcome Hungarian side Ferencvaros to the Camp Nou. It is the first time in 25 years that Ferencvaros have been in the Champions League. The Catalan side are coming off the back of a loss to Getafe and would no doubt aim to make a response with a win. The bookies are only offering 1.20 for this event.
Lazio welcome Dortmund to the Stadio Olimpico and it’s pointing to the German side as favourites for this game. The Serie A side have only won one game so far this season and even lost their last outing while Dortmund will be coming off the back of a victory. We are tipping the German side to claim another win once again. Bet365 offer 1.95 for Dortmund to win, Bet9ja offer 2.04 and Betking offer 2.10 odds.
Leipzig are unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season and even top the league as it stands. They are on top form at the moment and we can see them keeping that momentum in the Champions League. We’re tipping them to claim a home win over Instanbul Bakasekhir. The bookies have odds of 1.25 for this event.
Over 2.5 Goals
Chelsea welcomes last season’s Europa League winners in Sevilla to the Stamford Bridge for their opening Champions League game. Sevilla have been in good form so far but suffered a shock loss to Granada at the weekend. No doubt they will be eager to get back to winning ways. Chelsea have shown how fragile they are at the back and the most recent indication is their 3-3 draw with Southampton where they blew a two-goal lead. Predicting a winner might be difficult but this is a safer option for this game. Bet9ja have odds of 1.68, Bet365 are offering 1.72 while Betking are going with 1.75.
Elsewhere, Leipzig welcomes Turkish side Istanbul Bakasekhir to the Red Bull Arena. Leipzig might have lost all-time scorer Timo Werner this summer but scoring goals has not been a problem regardless. In 3 of their last 5 games, there has been a minimum of three goals and we can tip today to be no different. Bet9ja offer 1.35, Betking offer 1,37 and Bet365 offer odds of 1.40.
Goalscorers
Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe already has four goals from four Ligue 1 games this season and he seems to be in top form at the moment. On a good day, he is unplayable and he’ll fancy his chances at what could be a ‘weakened’ Man United backline. Bet365 are offering a worthy 1.72 odds while Bet9ja have it better at 1.90 odds.
Messi
Lionel Messi is always a good shout to get on the score sheet for Barca. He might have voiced his frustrations at the club over the summer but he still looks to be putting out his best professionally on the pitch. Barca are by far the favorites for this one and so is Messi to score. Given it may likely play out, Bet365 are only offering odds of 1.28 while Bet9ja are going with 1.35 for the same outcome.
Morata
With Cristiano Ronaldo out for Juventus, Morata will be the player counted upon to deliver the goals. The Spaniard bagged his first goal for the club since his return last weekend and he’ll be eager to build on that no doubt. Bet365 offer a decent 2.35 odds while Bet9ja have a massive 2.75 odds to go with.
