This weekend’s Serie A matchup between AC Milan and Juventus promises to be explosive. Milan should have the advantage over Juventus, who have been inconsistent thus far because they are the ones setting the pace and seeming confident. With only one loss in their last eight league games, the Rossoneri have won seven of them. Naturally, the loss occurred during the Derby della Madonnina, where Inter Milan, the opposition team, soundly defeated the team 5-1. Since then, AC Milan has improved, winning their last four league games.
AC Milan vs Juventus
The 2021–2022 season saw AC Milan win their 19th Scudetto; however, the previous campaign was a failure. Rossoneri placed fourth in Serie A after being eliminated from the Champions League in the semifinals.
Their sole chance of winning the Champions League was sheer luck since Juventus was docked ten points. Milan would be participating in the Europa League if it weren’t for it. With two more points than their local rival Inter, AC Milan is presently leading Serie A after an outstanding start to the season.
The previous season for Juventus was quite intriguing. Due to a ten-point punishment, they finished seventh in Serie A and received a one-year ban from UEFA tournaments. Still, the Old Lady retained the majority of the team, and in my opinion, they are just as good as they were the year before. With 17 points in eight rounds, including four away from the league leader and their next opponent, AC Milan, the current season got off to a good start.
As the weekend approaches, Juventus is four points behind AC Milan, the leaders of Serie A, after two mishandled road trips cost the Old Lady points. The visitors have lost five points in their two trips to Sassuolo and Atalanta thus far, but their strong start must be weighed against the reality that they have only faced two of the top 10 teams right now.
Verdict
Milan’s defense has been outstanding lately; they have kept a clean sheet in five of the last six games. Five of those six games saw Rossoneri score fewer than 2.5 goals, mostly thanks to strong defense.
Juventus’ defense has significantly improved since their disastrous 4:2 loss to Sassuolo, as they have preserved a clean sheet in their last three games. Juventus still has the second-best defensive record with just six goals allowed, despite conceding four goals against Sassuolo. Only Inter gave up fewer points (five).
These two clubs met four times in the previous two seasons, with the margin of victory being under 2.5 goals each time. Given that both sides appear to be playing excellent defense at this time and that their past head-to-head matches have been close, we believe the best wager on this tie is under 2.5 goals.
The Rossoneri are leading the way after a fantastic run of play, while Juve is still making their way back to the top of Italian football. The hosts enter this match having won four of their previous five games across all competitions, and they have won seven of their eight league games this season.
