In the highly anticipated Premier League North London derby on Sunday, Arsenal will welcome Tottenham Hotspur in an effort to extend their winning streak at the Emirates against their arch-enemy. Both capital juggernauts have 13 points after five games this season, but Mikel Arteta’s team also enters the tantalizing match fresh off a crushing Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven.
Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur
We shall have the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham on Sunday afternoon. When both teams have a strong start to the season, one of the most intriguing rivalries in English football is about to begin. With four victories and one tie to start the Premier League season, both teams are only two points behind Manchester City.
Arsenal won the Community Shield at the beginning of the season. Since the 2003–04 season, the Gunners have failed to lift the Premier League trophy; however, they are hopeful that this season will mark their return to the top spot. Team Mikel Arteta is off to a strong start.
Arsenal defeated PSV 4-0 at home on Wednesday in the Champions League. As a result of the home team’s early dominance, Arsenal led 3-0 at the break. Arsenal will undoubtedly feel quite confident after a victory like that going into their match against archrival Tottenham. Facing a side as open as PSV may have come as somewhat of a relief for Arteta’s men, who had previously struggled to penetrate a backs-against-the-wall Everton team before a moment of magic from the silky Trossard, who is unsurprisingly proving a more than capable deputy for the injured Gabriel Martinelli.
Harry Kane’s departure marked the end of an era for Tottenham. However, Ange Postecoglou’s squad is doing well. Tottenham defeated Sheffield United 2-1 at home last weekend. Up until the 90+8th minute, the home team was trailing, but they managed to prevail and get all three points.
Verdict
Ange Postecoglou’s quick start in North London and the club’s 13 points from his first five matches in charge have made the transition to the post-Harry Kane era much smoother for Spurs than many anticipated.
With 18 goals scored and only two clean sheets in six competitive games—one of which was a victory over Manchester United in which they allowed 2.45 anticipated goals against—these games have been marked by numerous chances at both ends.
The best strategy is to back both teams to score because both teams appear relatively weak at the back but deadly moving forward. I believe the outcome at the Emirates might be shared because of this.
Ten goals were scored by Arsenal in their last four games. Over 2.5 goals were scored in three of those four games. Tottenham, on the other hand, has scored scored seven goals in previous games. For this game, the optimal wager should be over 2.5 goals.
