27-06-23 Daily Football Predictions : Portugal U21 vs Belgium U21

Betting Tips

In their last Group A encounter, Portugal faces Belgium in the Mikheil Meskhis sakhelobis Stadioni in Tbilisi for the first time since 2007. After a 1-1 tie with the Netherlands, Portugal earned the first point of the European U21 Championship. After blowing a two-goal lead in the 2-2 draw with Georgia, Belgium still hadn’t won.

Portugal U21 vs Belgium U21

Portugal just earned one point from its first two group games, putting them in danger of another early elimination. After the squad made the final of the previous competition, coach Rui Jorge did have some rather high hopes. Even making it to the quarterfinals now seems improbable, barring a shocking outcome in the decisive match.

A close-range Brian Brobbey equalizer against the Netherlands prevented Portugal from winning the previous match. After excellent work by Pedro Neto, Portugal had seized the lead midway through the first half when André Almeida applied a first-time finish.

The 2021 runners-up had a chance to win in extra time, but Portugal’s substitute Francisco Conceiço was stopped by Oranje goaltender Bart Verbruggen, keeping them one point back of second place.

In the 2019 competition, Belgium was unable to go past the group round. There are no issues to worry about for coach Jacky Mathijssen before the game. The 59-year-old will be frustrated, too, because his squad recently lost a game after taking a two-goal lead.

In front of a record-breaking crowd for the U21 Euro final competition in Tbilisi, Georgia came back from 2-0 down to tie thanks to the contributions of Giorgi Tsitaishvili and Giorgi Guliashvili, who came off the bench. Maxim De Cuyper headed Belgium’s first goal in 15 minutes, and Largie Ramazani added another header seven minutes before halftime to give Belgium, who drew their first match with the Netherlands, a comfortable lead.

Portugal and Georgia would advance to the knockout round with victories over the Netherlands and a win, respectively. It will be enough for advancement if Belgium wins and the Netherlands fails to earn all three points.

Verdict

Portugal would tie Georgia at four points each with a victory in this game, but the Group A leaders would finish ahead of them in the head-to-head standings.

Portugal must defeat Belgium and pray that Georgia defeats the Netherlands in order to finish second in the group and advance to the knockout stage

Belgium, which started their campaign with a goalless draw against the Netherlands before tying 2-2 with Georgia on Saturday, is presently ranked second in the division.

Despite Portugal’s poor performance thus far, we are betting on them to win on Tuesday, which would put them in a position to potentially advance to the competition’s quarterfinals.
