On Wednesday at CityPark, the USA will play Saint Kitts and Nevis for the first time as both teams look for their first victory of the 2023 Gold Cup.

Their worst defeat since a 4-0 loss to El Salvador more than two years earlier was a 3-0 loss to Trinidad & Tobago. Additionally, it’s important to note that Saint Kitts and Nevis had not failed to score at least once since Andorra blanked them in a friendly match in March 2022.
After winning the CONCACAF Nations League, the USA is the side to beat at this year’s Gold Cup. On June 18, they defeated Canada 2-0 in the Nations League championship game, with goals from Chris Richards and Folarin Balogun.
However, their Gold Cup campaign got off to a somewhat unimpressive start when they tied Jamaica 1-1 in their opening group round match. The USA rarely sends its strongest team to the Gold Cup. They’ll still be very confident in their ability to defeat Saint Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday.
Verdict
The US is aiming for a successful summer as they prepare to co-host the 2026 World Cup. They recently won the CONCACAF Nations League. Given that St. Kitts was the underdog and was defeated 4-0 by El Salvador in World Cup qualifying, they are predicted to win easily.
The US may have struggled against Jamaica, but that may have had something to do with the fact that they had just won a cup. Prior to this international break, they had defeated Mexico 3-0 and Canada 2-0 to win the Nations League.
Against Trinidad and Tobago in their opening game in the group round, Saint Kitts and Nevis were disorganized. With so many talented players on their team, the Americans will probably present them with an even greater challenge. Saint Kitts and Nevis will do well to avoid an embarrassing loss in this one-sided contest.
The two teams are ranked almost 120 places apart in the globe, with St. Kitts competing in their inaugural Gold Cup. They should be cautious when playing a US team who may use a statement win after their lopsided loss in their opening game.
