Daily Football Predictions-20-08-22

There’s more league action today, and with more competitions to choose from, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve started the season on a good note with our tips, and we’ll aim to do more of that as we bring you the best tips and predictions to go with them across Europe’s top five leagues.

Straight Wins.

Bournemouth made the trip to the Premier League champions last weekend and now they return home to face an in-form Arsenal side. The Gunners have won their opening two matches and are one of just two teams to do so this season, the other being Manchester City. Arsenal has won four of their last five games against Bournemouth and has picked up wins in each of their opening two league games of the new season. Mikel Arteta and his side would be confident of picking up the three points in this game after two straight victories over opponents who were similar to them. Bet9ja have 1.44 odds, Paripesa have 1.45 odds and 1xBet have 1.45 odds.

Wolfsburg takes on Schalke 04 at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Wolfsburg avoided the battering that many had anticipated at Bayern Munich last time out and though they did eventually lose the game, they would have extracted some confidence from competitive performance. Back at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA – where Die Wolfe have lost just twice in nine Bundesliga assignments – Wolfsburg could harness that self-belief to push for their first victory of the new campaign could be in the offing against Schalke 04 on Saturday. The host has won each of their last two home encounters with Schalke and a third triumph is on the cards here. Bet9ja have 1.83 odds, Paripesa have 1.88 odds and 1xBet have 1.88 odds.

Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim go toe-to-toe at the BayArena in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The 2022/23 campaign has started in a miserable fashion for Bayer Leverkusen and following back-to-back defeats in their first two assignments, they will be desperate to restore some positivity on Saturday. Hoffenheim came from two down to beat Bochum last time out, though they were tossed aside when they last faced Bayer in May (4-2), and they will fear a similarly heavy loss against their highly-motivated hosts on Saturday. With that result still relatively fresh in the players’ minds, we recommend siding with Bayer this weekend. Bet9ja have 1.68 odds, Paripesa have 1.74 odds and 1xBet have 1.74 odds.

Two teams still searching for their first wins of the new Premier League season go head-to-head on Saturday as Leicester plays host to Southampton at the King Power Stadium. Both teams have looked dodgy in defense during the first two matches and that should make for an entertaining 90-minutes in the Midlands. We’re backing the Foxes to secure their first win of the campaign this weekend as they have won each of their last three home games against Southampton, running out 4-1 winners in this very fixture last season. Leicester was held to a 2-2 draw by an impressive Brentford side in their last home game but won’t be expecting as much of a test against a Southampton side that was beaten 4-1 in their last away game against Tottenham. Bet9ja have 1.86 odds, Paripesa have 1.92 odds and 1xBet have 1.92 odds.

Both of these teams started the new Serie A campaign with a win and we’re expecting a close encounter between the pair on Saturday. Torino beat newly-promoted Monza last time out, but only just, while Lazio got the better of Bologna. Lazio hasn’t lost any of their last six matches against Torino, picking up three wins and three draws. Lazio’s last two wins against Torino have arrived at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and we’re backing the visitors to secure another 3pts this weekend. Lazio has a much-better squad on paper led by their star striker Immobile, while Torino lost their talismanic forward Belotti this summer on a free transfer. Bet9ja have 2.37 odds, Paripesa have 2.46 odds and 1xBet have 2.46 odds.

Over 2.5

Borussia Dortmund has started the new season in fine form and having won each of their first two tests of the campaign against strong Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg sides, they should find the going a little easier against newly-promoted Werder Bremen on Saturday. Werder Bremen should provide good value this season in the entertainment stakes, according to early evidence, since each of their first two games of the new season included four goals. Dortmund knows how to offer action in spades, as evidenced by the 4.02 goals per 90 minutes they averaged in their Bundesliga games last season. The match on Saturday has all the makings of being an intriguing battle, thus betting on more than 2.5 goals is suggested. Bet9ja have 1.38 odds, Paripesa have 1.38 odds and 1xBet have 1.38 odds.

Tottenham fought back well to pitch a point at Stamford Bridge and keep their unbeaten start to the new Premier League going. Saturday’s guest’s Wolves have made a slow start to the campaign but did at least manage to put their first point on the board thanks to a goalless draw at home to newly-promoted Fulham. We’re expecting goals in this game, mostly from the home side who have recorded a 4-1 and 6-3 win as well as a 2-2 draw in their last six fixtures. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in four of Tottenham’s and three of Wolves’ last six outings in all competitions with the home side already netting 6 goals in their opening two league games but also failing to keep a single clean sheet. Bet9ja have 1.70 odds, Paripesa have 1.79 odds and 1xBet have 1.79 odds.

Fulham is yet to taste defeat on their return to the Premier League having secured back-to-back draws against Liverpool and Wolves. Brentford has continued where they left off last season, impressing with a 2-2 draw at Leicester that was followed up by a fantastic 4-0 hammering of Manchester United. We’re expecting goals in this game between two teams that like to play open, expansive football. Three of the last six meetings between the pair have produced over 2.5 goals, including their last encounter back in 2020 which saw Brentford secure a 3-0 win in the League Cup. Three of Fulham’s last five matches have witnessed at least three goals scored while four of Brentford’s last six outings have produced over 2.5 goals, so you can see just why we’re predicting an action-packed 90-minutes on Saturday. Bet9ja have 1.92 odds, Paripesa have 1.98 odds and 1xBet have 1.98 odds.

Both Sassuolo and Lecce got off to losing starts last weekend and will be determined to get points on the board this Saturday. Lecce make their return to Serie A this season after a couple of years in the second tier and almost claimed a point against the champions Inter Milan in their opening fixture. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last two meetings between Sassuolo and Lecce, and we’re backing at least three goals to be scored on Saturday as well. Five of Sassuolo’s last six matches in all competitions have produced over 2.5 goals while four of Lecce’s last six matches have witnessed at least three goals, adding further weight to our prediction. Bet9ja have 1.58 odds, Paripesa have 1.69 odds and 1xBet have 1.69 odds.

Leicester made the trip to Arsenal last time out where a brace from Jesus put the home side 2-0 up at the interval. Leicester responded very well but fell short losing the game 4-2 with goals from James Maddison and an own goal from Saliba. At least three goals have been scored in three of the last five league meetings between Leicester and Southampton, including both meetings in the Premier League last season. Five of Leciester’s and four of Southampton’s last six matches in all competitions have ended with over 2.5 goals being scored, adding even more weight to our prediction. Bet9ja have 1.60 odds, Paripesa have 1.70 odds and 1xBet have 1.70 odds.

Anytime Goalscorers

Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku is back at Inter Milan and back amongst the goals having fired in one of Inter’s 2-goals during the win against Lecce last weekend. We’re backing the Belgian international to score again this weekend when Inter plays host to Spezia, a side they got the domestic double over last season with a 3-1 win away and a 2-0 win at home. Bet9ja have 1.78 odds while Paripesa have 1.60 odds.

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus is up and running in the Premier League for Arsenal following his brace against Leicester City last time out. The Brazilian made the move from Man City this summer and was impressed in pre-season. We have high hopes for Jesus this season, giving him a full season in a main striking role will just show you how good he is in front of goal and we’re backing the Brazilian international to score against Bournemouth.  Bet9ja have 2.20 odds while Paripesa have 2.19 odds.

Ciro Immobile

Speaking of Immobile, the Italian international is already off and running for the season after scoring one of Lazio’s goals against Bologna last time out. The 32-year-old netted 27 league goals in the last campaign and we’re fully expecting Immobile to challenge for the top goal scorer award once again this season, so you can see why we’ve backed the Lazio man to score against Torino. Bet9ja have 2.25 odds while Paripesa have 2.05 odds.

James Maddison

A goal contribution (G1, A1) in each game so far shows why Leicester doesn’t want to sell James Maddison, who’s scored four times in eight PL appearances against Southampton. We all know what a player he is when he is injury-free, and he has had a strong start to the season. He has had an impressive start to the campaign and we all know what a player he is when he is injury free. He has a great record of scoring against Southampton as the Saints have had trouble keeping goals out of their net. Bet9ja have 2.20 odds while Paripesa have 3.40 odds.

Mitrovic

Aleksandar Mitrovic, who recently scored six of his last seven league goals at Craven Cottage for Fulham, will be happy to be back there as he seeks to atone for missing the penalty against Wolves. He’s off to a great start in the Premier League, scoring twice so far, so we’re confident he’ll get the goals he needs to earn his comeback. Bet9ja have 2.30 odds while Paripesa have 2.375 odds.
