Tottenham vs Liverpool-06-11-2022

Tottenham welcomes Liverpool to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for this match in the Premier League. The home team is currently third on the table with 26 points, while the visitors are ninth with 16 points. Tottenham is not only flying high in the league, but they have also topped their group in the Champions League. Liverpool, on the other hand, is having their worst start to a league season in over a decade. Despite their poor form, they have managed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

There are just two rounds of Premier League fixtures to come before the World Cup break and Liverpool will be hoping to end on a high. It’s been a tough season for Liverpool so far with just four wins from their opening 12 Premier League matches, drawing four and losing four. They are already eight points behind fourth-placed Newcastle and closer to the bottom than they are the top. Jurgen Klopp’s side may have ended the Champions League on a winning note, beating Ajax and Napoli in their final two matches, but they have been joined by back-to-back Premier League defeats. First the Reds were beaten by the Premier League’s other Reds, Nottingham Forest at the City Ground and then last time out they lost 2-1 to Leeds United at Anfield, their first home defeat in the league since the 2020/21 season.

Form Guide: Chelsea

Tottenham prevailed in Marseille despite the home team taking the lead. In the final assault, Conte’s team completely reversed the outcome, winning their group, moving on to the knockout round, and obtaining home-field advantage.

The Spurs have now gone three games without suffering a loss, drawing 1-1 with Sporting at home before defeating Bournemouth 2-3 and Marseille, both away from home. It’s interesting to note that despite falling behind by two goals against the Cherries, Tottenham still managed to prevail. In their last four games, both teams have scored, and in three of those, there were over 2.5 hits.

The situation is similar when Spurs play at home, with four of five of their recent events ending with goals on both ends. Tottenham Hotspur are winless in their last nine Premier League victories against Liverpool, with their previous victory coming by a 4-1 margin in 2017.

Form Guide: Liverpool

Liverpool has a strong team at their disposal, but this season they have fallen short of expectations. This weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s team has plenty to prove despite having a strong road record against Spurs. The Reds are possibly Europe’s most unreliable team. They defeated Ajax and Napoli but fell short against Leeds or Nottingham. Not to mention that they’ve previously been able to defeat Man City.

This group has a lot of issues with the defense. They’ve kept clean sheets in their last four victories, and when Liverpool’s backline performs flawlessly, there isn’t a single issue with their game.

Since the start of the campaign, the Reds have only two road victories, with two draws and four losses. On six occasions, Liverpool couldn’t keep its net intact, and six of these games were with over 2.5 goals.

Liverpool’s dismal road record, at least in the Premier League, is largely to blame for their failure to go on a sustained winning streak. Surprisingly, the Reds have yet to triumph on the road this season. Only two points have been earned in their five games played on venues other than Anfield.

Liverpool won’t be able to reach the top four until they make major improvements on the road. The Champions League qualification slots are already eight points out of reach for Klopp’s team, and they cannot afford to lose any more ground.

How the game could go

It’s difficult to know what to expect from either of these sides, with Liverpool unable to produce any consistency and Tottenham seemingly incapable of putting together a complete performance over more than 45 minutes.

Another slow start from Spurs will surely be punished by Liverpool, who had plenty of chances in their defeats to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

With the hosts weakened further by the absence of Heung-min Son, this looks like a real chance for the Reds to close ground on their top-four rivals. But with Liverpool blowing hot and cold, it doesn’t seem like a sensible move to back them at their short price in this tough-looking away game.

Betting Predictions

We’ve gone with a draw for the end result at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the last two meetings between these two clubs have ended all square. Spurs drew their last home game with Sporting Lisbon and have been hit-and-miss of late, while Liverpool have struggled in their last two league games and appear to be saving their best performances for the Champions League. Bet9ja have 3.65, 1xbet have  3.64 and Paripesa have 3.64 odds.

Under 2.5 goals

Under 2.5 goals were scored when these two sides last locked horns for a 1-1 draw at Anfield, and we’re predicting another low-scoring 90-minutes in the capital this weekend. Three of Tottenham’s and four of Liverpool’s last six outings in all competitions have ended with under 2.5 goals being produced and we wouldn’t be shocked to see both defences come out on top this weekend. Bet9ja have 2.17 odds, Paripesa have 2.11 and 1xbet have 2.11 odds.

Anytime Goalscorer (Tottenham )

The English striker has scored eight goals against today’s opponents and we think he’ll be up for it  today again. He has scored a host of goals this season in the Premier League  scoring 10 in the season so far.  He is only outscored by Haaland and we know how well he plays when faced with big teams. He is rightly priced by the bookies which is why we have him selected here. Bet9ja have 2.45 odds for him to score while Paripesa have 2.40.

Lucas Moura

The absence of Son in the team due to injury would definitely give Lucas Moura some time in the sun. He hasn’t had a lot of starts this season but has been productive when call upon from the bench. Today’s opponents might find him a bit tricky and we are counting on that to see him score today. Bet9ja have 5.25 odds for him to score while Paripesa have 4.50

Anytime Goalscorer (Tottenham)

A slow start to the season has seen a lot of people lose faith in the Egyptian winger this season, he hasn’t been up to his known best and  we are hoping it’s  something he can get past. He scored a very important goal in their sides UCL win over Italian side Napoli and could be the one to lead Liverpoo to glory today as we have seen in previous matches. Bet9ja have 2.75 odds for him to score while Paripesa have 2.30.

A lot of the club’s strikers have been injured and could be out for a fairly long time . Nunez on the other hand is fit and could be up to return to the starting line up after scoring the second goal against Napoli coming off the bench.  Liverpool fans need to be patient as he is starting look settled in the team and we can expect a goal or two from him today. Bet9ja have 2.95 odds for him to score while Paripesa have 2.60 odds
