Verdict
After losing badly in Europe, Inter Milan and Napoli are left with only Serie A duties. In that regard, Inter is in a strong position and appear to have a comfortable 16-point advantage over their opponents. Napoli needs victories to remain in the running for at least sixth place, which is the final qualification berth for the upcoming European season. Given that Inter has already defeated Napoli twice this season, they are unlikely to do them any favors.
The dominance of Inter Milan in this Serie A season is unparalleled. Nerazzurri entered this game coming off of 18 victories and 2 ties in their previous 20 league games. In the last five Serie A matches, they have conceded just one goal while winning three of them 4-0. Since Walter Mazzarri was replaced on the bench by Francesco Calzona, Napoli’s performance and self-assurance have improved.
Nevertheless, the 1-3 loss away to Barcelona on Tuesday night exposed several defensive weaknesses. In the Italian Premier Division, Inter Milan has the best offensive and defensive records. We would be shocked to see anything other than an easy victory for I Nerazzurri on Sunday.
