Monaco hosts Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1 action on Friday at Stade Louis II in an attempt to win at home for the first time this year. With a thrilling 3-2 victory at Lens, Les Monegasques regained their Champions League spot, and the league leaders went undefeated in 2024 after securing a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Rennes.
Monaco vs PSG
Monaco, now ranked third, is fighting for a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season. They could fall out of the top four at some point this weekend if they lose here, as they are only three points ahead of Lille in fifth place. They triumphed 3-2 at Lens in their most recent league game. Monaco was ahead 2-0 in that match, but they still needed a goal in the 92nd minute to prevail.
They are currently very concerned with home form. Out of their last four home league games, they have only managed one point. The last home game resulted in a 2-1 loss against Toulouse. That was their fourth Ligue 1 home loss of the year.
PSG has a lengthy winning streak going into this match. Their most recent Champions League loss occurred at Milan early in November. They have since participated in 19 games across all tournaments, winning 14 of them. PSG’s most recent defeat at the hands of a French team came in a September home loss to Nice.
They have won 16 of their 23 league games this season, with that being their lone league defeat. Before last Saturday, when Rennes held them to a 1-1 tie, they had won three straight. It needed a penalty in the 97th minute to save a point, and their unbeaten streak almost ended there.

Their current league unbeaten streak stands at eighteen games. This season, PSG has not dropped a game when traveling in Ligue 1.
Verdict
Monaco has only won twice in their last six games, which is a bad record. Even if those victories were against strong clubs like Lens and Nice, we can’t say they were very remarkable, and we don’t think those kinds of efforts are strong enough to win against the top team in France. They had a dismal record at home, winning only one point in four games, and we can’t argue that their schedule was difficult.
Without a doubt, PSG remains the greatest team in France. They have a 70% winning record in 16 out of 23 Ligue 1 games, and surprisingly, they have a higher winning percentage away from home. PSG has been playing excellent away from home lately, winning five straight games and scoring two goals or more each time.
PSG destroyed Monaco in their season-opening head-to-head match at Parc des Princes, winning 5:2. We anticipate a closer game this time around at Stade Louis II in Monaco, but another victory for the Parisians.
