When third-place Arsenal plays Liverpool for the third time in two months, all eyes will be on the Emirates for what looks to be an exciting Premier League match on Sunday afternoon. Both teams strengthened their title chances in midweek, with the Gunners defeating Nottingham Forest 2-1 and Jurgen Klopp’s ruthless crop crushing Chelsea 4-1.
Arsenal vs Liverpool
This season, Liverpool has only dropped one Premier League match, and that one took place in North London. On September 30, the Reds lost a contentious league match against Tottenham. They have not lost any of their last 21 games against English teams. Their lone Europa League away setbacks occurred when they fielded subpar lineups.
They have now scored nine goals in their past two games after defeating Chelsea 4-1 at home in their most recent match. Mo Salah is unnecessary, right? With just ten goals allowed, Liverpool has won six of its eleven away league games this season. The past four have all been wins, and each one has included at least a few goals scored.
Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 in midweek to secure another victory. They had previously defeated Crystal Palace 5-0 at home, making that their second consecutive league victory. These two league wins were much-needed following a dismal 2023 campaign.
After three league games, the former league leaders were reduced to one point and their unbeaten home record was lost to West Ham United. If they win on Saturday, both fourth-place Tottenham and fifth-place Aston Villa might have the same number of points by the time this game starts.
Verdict
Liverpool knows that a victory would put them eight points ahead of the opposition in the Premier League heading into the Emirates. They have a lengthy winning streak over English teams and most recently defeated and drew the Gunners. If Arsenal hopes to win the Premier League this year, they dare not lose this match.
The visitors are favored in this match, and considering their recent performance, I believe they are worth supporting. A repetition of their 2-0 cup victory may well be in the works
Arsenal has recently lost both of its home games by a score of 2-0, while Liverpool has scored precisely twice in four of their previous seven away games, three of which have been 2-0 victories. Consider Diogo Jota if you’re looking for an anytime goal scorer. The midweek goal against Chelsea gave the Portugal international four goals and one assist in his last three games.
