The victory gave the Gunners a goal differential advantage over Liverpool in second place, propelling them to the top of the Premier League rankings.
With six of those games ending in victory, Arsenal has now gone seven games without a loss in all competitions. Their lone defeat during that run of play came in a 0-0 away draw with Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s team is playing with incredible efficiency on both ends and is functioning like a well-oiled machine.
After down to Lazio in the first leg of their round of 16 match, Bayern recovered to win the match 3-1 overall. In the previous year’s competition, the six-time Champions League winners were eliminated at this point in favor of eventual champions Manchester City. Bayern Munich is not playing well going into this game because they have lost their past two straight.
They lost to Dortmund 2-0 at home in the Der Klassiker at the end of March, and last weekend they unexpectedly lost 3-2 away to Heidenheim. Bayern would eventually collapse in the second half of the contest, blowing a two-goal advantage at the break.

Verdict
Arsenal had a convincing 3:0 victory over Brighton on Saturday, so they enter Tuesday’s UCL quarterfinal match in good spirits. After losing the first leg of their round of sixteen Champions League match 1:0 at Porto, Mikel Arteta’s team has now gone seven games without a loss. The Gunners have won six of their last seven games after that setback, scoring 18 goals in the process.
Arsenal has won all six of their games played at the Emirates, including decisive wins over Porto and Liverpool. Most recently, Arteta’s team defeated Luton easily, winning 2:0. The Gunners have won all four of their home Champions League games this season; their last loss in this competition was a 5:1 thumping at the hands of Bayern in 2017.
After suffering yet another crushing loss in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Bayern is traveling to England. Thomas Tuchel’s team lost remarkably after leading 2:0 at halftime on the road in Heidenheim. Bayern must turn things around to avoid losing the first leg on Tuesday. Despite Bayern’s superior expertise in this level of European play, Arsenal’s previous performance indicates that a home victory on Tuesday is reasonable.
