Betting Predictions
In Tuesday’s league phase start, AC Milan and Liverpool, two former Champions League rivals, gather beneath the brilliant lights of San Siro to begin their most recent elite European expeditions.
This week is the first Champions League matchup between the two past continental winners under new coach Arne Slot and Paulo Fonseca, who both have recent transgressions to atone for.
Head-to-Head
Up until the weekend, Liverpool’s season had been going nicely. Their perfect streak ended when Nottingham Forest unexpectedly defeated them 1-0 at home. After Saturday’s games, they are now ranked second in the table.
After missing out on qualification the previous season, the Reds are back in the Champions League. Rather, they participated in the Europa League and suffered a quarterfinal loss. This competition was last won by Liverpool five years ago.
Last season, Milan was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. The Red and Blacks qualified for that competition despite their Champions League group placing third. Out of the four league games they have played this season, they have only won one. Liverpool and AC Milan will face off in the 2021–2022 Champions League. In all competitions, Liverpool has defeated AC Milan four times in their previous five meetings.
Team News
Federico Chiesa, a recent addition to Liverpool, did not make the team for the Reds’ most recent Premier League match, despite having completed a few training sessions before Forest’s visit. Slot is being very cautious with his fitness.
The Italian attacker’s debut in his own country is not completely out of the question, but given the short notice, he remains a significant doubt for the journey to Milan, where Harvey Elliott is unquestionably out with a foot fracture.
With just over 72 hours between games, Slot will undoubtedly think about rotating the attacking combination into his starting lineup. Neither Darwin Nunez nor Cody Gakpo made the desired effect up front after coming off the bench on Saturday. Regarding Fonseca’s Milan, Alessandro Florenzi (ACL), Marco Sportiello (ligament), and Ismael Bennacer (ankle) will all miss the team’s Champions League opening; although, the latter would never have replaced Mike Maignan in goal.
Davide Calabria is questionable after missing the Venezia thrashing due to a knock to his leg. German defender Malick Thiaw is also recovering from an ankle sprain that is proving to be difficult to overcome.
Fonseca will undoubtedly remain with the winning formula from the previous weekend, barring any last-minute knocks that force him to change, as Abraham stops new arrival Alvaro Morata to join fellow former Chelsea players Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic in the starting lineup.
Probable Line-Up
AC Milan XI:
Maignan; Emerson, Gabbia, Pavlovic, Hernandez; Reijnders, Fofana, Loftus-Cheek; Pulisic, Abraham, Leao
Liverpool XI:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Nunez
Verdict
Tip Liverpool to Winâś…
Reason
Despite a significant victory over Venezia, Paulo Fonseca has struggled in his early Milan career; therefore, Liverpool should feel optimistic despite the Forest loss. Particularly over the weekend, these two teams’ openings to the new campaign have been disparate. After having a fantastic start under Arne Slot, Liverpool lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Before last weekend, Milan had been having trouble in Serie A. However, they managed to secure their first league victory of the year.

Tip: Liverpool Over 1.5 Goalsâś…
Reason
Liverpool is our pick to score at least two goals in this match, as they have in four of their previous six games. Liverpool has defeated AC Milan five times in their last seven meetings between the two teams across all competitions, including a 4-1 victory in a friendly in 2022.
