Chelsea is without captain Reece James, who is currently nursing another hamstring injury and is also suspended for this game after his sending-off against Brighton towards the end of last season.
After suffering an ankle injury that kept him from participating in the USA, Nicolas Jackson came off the bench in last weekend’s 1-1 tie with Inter at Stamford Bridge. Axel Disasi was also on the bench following hernia surgery. Djordje Petrovic and Omari Kellyman have also been taking hits.
Tosin Adarabioyo, Filip Jorgensen, Marc Guiu, Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and other recent additions to Chelsea will also be hoping to compete for their competitive debuts. Jack Grealish of City could play following a knock he received during practice, however Brazilian winger Savinho, who recently joined from sister club Troyes, might make his Premier League debut.
Oscar Bobb will not feature after fracturing a bone in his leg and being ruled out for three to four months following surgery. Rodri, Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, and John Stones have all now returned to training after taking extended breaks following their runs to the final of Euro 2024, but Rodri has been ruled out in a major blow for City.
