Arsenal, still reeling from an agonizing injury-time goal, will visit Newcastle United, who celebrated a last-minute intervention in Saturday’s Premier League battle at the Emirates. The Gunners were defeated 1-0 in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with Porto on Wednesday evening. Eddie Howe’s side had to wait until the end to salvage a point in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth the previous weekend.

Newcastle’s defense is one of the league’s poorest, and they have not kept a clean sheet in 2024, but two victories and two draws in their previous four games suggest Eddie Howe’s club has recovered from their poor performances in late December and early January.

Newcastle United are now eighth in the Premier League standings and have not performed well this season. The visiting team was limited to a 2-2 tie by Bournemouth last week and will need to step up their game in this match.

Verdict

Arsenal have been in fantastic form in the Premier League, and they are currently on a goalscoring spree. Arsenal have scored 11 goals in their last two league games and will try to add to that total this weekend.

Newcastle United have fallen short of expectations this season and cannot afford to make mistakes on Saturday. Arsenal are currently in superior form and have the advantage heading into this encounter. We expect Arsenal to earn another crucial three points. The Gunners beat Liverpool 3-1 in their last home game, and Newcastle shipped at least three against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Luton recently.

Arsenal will just be back in the nation two days before the game, but they will have a point to prove following a disappointing evening in Portugal. Newcastle cannot help but ship goals at the moment, but they are also capable of putting the ball in the net at the opposite end.

There should be goals in this one, but the majority will be in favor of Arsenal.
