For the majority of the season, the Reds were one of the top three teams in the Premier League. They currently share the same number of points as Arsenal, who are currently in first place, although both teams have played more games than Manchester City, who are currently one point behind them. Thus, every game at this point in the competition is a must-win, and the title battle will undoubtedly be thrilling until the very end.

Everton would never give their bitter rivals an easy ride, but they will be even more motivated on Wednesday as they try to improve their survival chances.

They moved five points clear of the drop zone after a hard-fought victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and if they could increase that lead to eight points on Wednesday, they would most likely consider themselves safe.
