In a rematch of the 2021–22 EFL Cup final, Chelsea and Liverpool will face off at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, vying for the first domestic title of the 2023–24 season. Verdict

Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea ended a peculiar and lengthy run of ties between the two teams. Ignoring the Reds’ penalty shootout victories, the previous seven games were draws, with four of them ending goalless.

Pochettino’s side may probably attempt to frustrate a Klopp team devastated by injuries in recent weeks, and they could have some success, especially if they score first.

However, their unpredictability, combined with Liverpool’s superb run all year, with only four defeats across all competitions, makes the current Premier League leaders favorites for the first piece of silverware in the English top-flight season.

Both sides have scored in each of the Reds’ last seven games in all competitions, whereas Chelsea has had both teams score in their last five, therefore, I anticipate Liverpool to win but fail to preserve a clean sheet.

Liverpool’s habit of conceding at least once in every EFL Cup game this season should continue against the resurgent Blues, but defense is not the main issue for Liverpool, whose chances of victory will undoubtedly suffer if none of Salah, Nunez, or Szoboszlai make the cut.
