Betting Predictions
On Sunday night at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Barcelona will play Sevilla to end the 2023–24 La Liga season in what could or could not be the last game of Xavi’s turbulent reign.
Before the game 38 match, La Blaugrana’s second-place finish has already been confirmed, and their hosts will finish in the bottom half. It has been yet another disappointing campaign for Sevilla, who are set to finish in the bottom half of the season once again. They looked to have turned a corner in April but returned to default settings this month and have now lost their last three matches, including a 2-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao last time out.
Head-to-Head
Barcelona has a strong track record against this opponent, winning six of the previous seven matches and drawing one. The matchup between the two teams was won by the Catalans 1-0 back in September. The last three La Liga games for Sevilla have all resulted in losses. Barcelona has triumphed in four of the last five league games. In September, the Catalan team won the rematch 1-0 thanks to an own goal from Sergio Ramos.
Team News
Boubakary Soumare’s return from suspension will somewhat bolster Sevilla’s ranks, but three players starting from the Athletic defeat—Jesus Navas, Lucas Ocampos, and Marcos Acuna—were unable to fully train over the week for a variety of reasons.
Ocampos (sickness) and Acuna (precaution) should be good for Sunday, but Oliver Torres (shoulder), Isaac Romero (hamstring), Djibril Sow (foot), Erik Lamela (knee), and Nemanja Gudelj (knee) are all out. Navas and Suso are both doubtful because of muscle exhaustion.
Regarding Xavi’s team’s fitness, things remain the same as they were because Frenkie de Jong (ankle), Alejandro Balde (hamstring), and Gavi (ACL) are all still recovering and won’t be available for the season’s last game. However, a few modifications have been suggested, such as the potential addition of Inaki Pena to goal in place of Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Pedri’s brace off the bench last time out could be his ticket to a start over Fermin Lopez, while Andreas Christensen could return to his defensive midfield role in lieu of Sergi Roberto, a change that happened at halftime against Vallecano.
Probable Line-Up
Sevilla XI:
Nyland; Salas, Bade, Ramos; Sanchez, Soumare, Agoume, Acuna; Lukebakio, En-Nesyri, Ocampos
Barcelona XI:
Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Cancelo; Pedri, Christensen, Gundogan; Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha
Verdict
Tip: Barcelona to Win ✅
Reason
Barcelona, who has spent the majority of the season under Real Madrid’s shadow, is predicted to place second in the standings. Xavi’s team has been playing well lately; they have won four of their past five games, most recently defeating Rayo Vallecano 3-0. This season, the Catalans have also performed admirably when traveling, going undefeated in 16 of their 18 away games. Their last away match ended in a 2-0 victory for them against Almeria.

Reason
Barcelona’s intense motivation should allow them to close off the season with a winning attitude, but Sevilla is not going to be an easy out. But we’re hoping that both teams will be motivated to score goals in order to give the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan audience a true goal-fest. The Andalusian team has enough firepower in the final third to hurt Barca, despite the fact that the Catalan giants have been extremely deadly in front of goal, scoring two goals or more in six straight La Liga games. We also think that Barca’s three-game stretch of clean sheets ends here. We predict that Xavi’s team will win a thrilling match in the end.
