Betting Predictions
Hellas Verona and Juventus, who both triumphed 3-0 on the first matchday of Serie A, hope to carry on that winning streak when they play each other at Stadio Bentegodi on Monday.
In their debut match under Thiago Motta, Verona startled Napoli with an incredible second-half performance, and Juve’s revamped squad thumped recently promoted Como.
Head-to-Head
Juventus has a strong track record against Verona and has won the last five meetings between the two teams. The Turin team went on to win four of those games, but their most recent meeting at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi in February ended in a 2-2 draw. In their 19 home games the previous season, Verona had a record of six wins, six draws, and seven defeats; but, in their most recent match, at this location, Verona held this opponent to a 2-2 draw.
That is not an easy task. During the second half of the previous season, Juventus was infamous for their poor road performance, going eight games without winning Serie A (D5, L3). Their last victory in an away league game occurred back in January.
Team News
Arkadiusz Milik is still out with a knee injury, and Timothy Weah and Khephren Thuram both suffered injuries after starting last week’s victory against Como. As a result, they will not play in Verona.
Either way, the latter is among those, like Tiago Djalo, Federico Chiesa, Arthur, and Filip Kostic, who are anticipated to depart Juventus before the transfer window closes.
Thuram and the other newcomers, Douglas Luiz, Michele Di Gregorio, and former Verona full-back Juan Cabal, could all see action on Monday. However, the long-awaited contracts for Teun Koopmeiners and Nico Gonzalez are still pending.
Samuel Mbangula, a youth graduate, could become the first player to score in both of his first two league outings for Juventus since Carlos Tevez in August 2013 after scoring his debut goal against Como.
Due to Suat Serdar’s thigh injury last week, Verona will likely need to make at least one change to their winning lineup. Reda Belahyane, a French midfielder, will most likely take Serdar’s place.
After Daniel Mosquera scored twice as a substitute, Paolo Zanetti might also want to make changes upfront; Benfica loanee Casper Tengstedt might then take his place. The only other player absent for the hosts is another forward, Juan Manuel Cruz, a long-term absentee.
Probable Line-Up
Hellas Verona XI:
Montipo; Tchatchoua, Coppola, Dawidowicz, Frese; Belahyane, Duda; Livramento, Harroui, Lazovic; Mosquera
Juventus XI:
Di Gregorio; Danilo, Gatti, Bremer, Cabal; Locatelli, Luiz; Cambiaso, Yildiz, Mbangoula; Vlahovic
Verdict
Tip Juventus to Winâś…
Reason
Juve appears to be more cohesive under Thiago Motta, thus they should be a lot harder nut to crack than Verona’s first opponents, a sick Napoli team.
With Dusan Vlahovic up front and lots of pace out wide, Juventus appears revitalized and can take advantage of any holes in the hosts’ defense. Even though Juventus is the favorite going into the match, Motta’s team will not have an easy time. Against Napoli, Verona appeared composed and self-assured.

Reason
Even though both of these teams had strong seasons to begin, Verona’s loss to Napoli left many wondering if they would be this season’s surprise package. This week’s game could provide the answer.
Although Juventus is the obvious favorite, we think the hosts will give them a fight and have a sneaky suspicion that both teams will score.
