Betting Predictions
When Liverpool and Real Madrid square off in Wednesday’s Champions League showdown, the most recent chapter in their rivalry will be written.
After four matchdays, Arne Slot’s team is the only team in the competition with a perfect score of 12 points, which puts them 17 spots ahead of the indifferent holders in the 36-team rankings.
Head-to-Head
Liverpool’s thrilling victory over Southampton put them eight points clear at the top of the Premier League standings. They can carry on their winning streak when they play Real Madrid, the defending Champions League champions, on Wednesday.
Liverpool has lost all seven of their previous games with Real Madrid and is winless in their last eight meetings with the Spanish powerhouse. The last time the two teams played at this location was in a Champions League final-16 first leg match in 2023, which Real Madrid won 5-2.
Team News
Alisson Becker (hamstring), Diogo Jota (abdominal), Federico Chiesa (fitness), and Trent Alexander-Arnold (hamstring) were all left out of Liverpool’s matchday squad for their trip to Southampton, despite Harvey Elliott making it for the first time in more than two months after suffering a foot fracture.
Slot has already acknowledged that the only member of the quartet who may have a chance of returning on Wednesday—when a few changes are undoubtedly in store following a rather concerning overall performance at St. Mary’s—is Alexander Arnold, the rumored Real Madrid target.
As was the case with just over an hour played on Sunday, Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz, two members of the South American contingent, could push their way back into the hosts’ lineup instead of Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo. It appears like Real Madrid will have to make do without Brazilian wing maestro Vinicius Junior for the trip to Anfield. The team announced on Monday morning that he had a hamstring injury during the Leganes triumph, but they did not provide a timescale for his rehabilitation.
However, according to reports, Vinicius will be out for a few weeks. He is in the medical bay with Rodrygo (muscle), Aurelien Tchouameni (ankle), and Lucas Vazquez (muscle), as well as longtime knee casualties David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao.
When asked on Sunday, Ancelotti did not rule out Tchouameni or Vazquez for the midweek match; nonetheless, the champions will probably bring the same team to Anfield as they did in their victory over Leganes.
Brahim Diaz will be expected to step in if Vinicius is unable to play as planned, while Raul Asencio, a 21-year-old Castilla graduate, will make his Champions League debut due to Real Madrid’s defensive dilemma.

Verdict
Tip Liverpool to Winâś…
Reason
Liverpool was far from their brilliant best against Southampton, and all football fans know that Ancelotti’s Real Madrid is always a threat in the Champions League. However, given the significance of Wednesday’s match, Slot’s squad shouldn’t be complacent. We have complete faith in the Reds to defeat Los Blancos for the first time in fifteen years and keep their perfect league phase record when they play a Real Madrid team beset by injuries and lacking in continental confidence.

Tip: Over 2.5 Goals❌
Reason
Real Madrid’s defense is playing poorly, but their offensive is definitely capable of scoring a lot of goals against anyone. Indeed, they have recently enjoyed some clean sheets, but those were against Osasuna and Leganes. They weren’t at all good against superior opponents, and we don’t think they can hold their net against Liverpool, who are playing well right now. We witnessed a very thrilling battle in the previous head-to-head match at Anfield, which ended 5:2 for Real Madrid. We anticipate another high-scoring match, probably with goals from both teams, in light of everything mentioned above.
