Morocco, who finished with seven points in the group stage, is looking to build on their journey to the World Cup final four. They have defeated South Africa in the 2019 edition of this event, and they have won six of their previous eight games. They can cause additional heartache for the country. Morocco has strong defense capabilities. During the tournament, they gave up just one goal in three games. However, in four of the preceding five games, South Africa’s goal total was under 2.5. Mali vs Burkina Faso
Mali has advanced to the next stage of the tournament for the third time in a row. For the first time since the tournament’s expansion, Eric Chelle’s team will now try to get past the round of 16. The West Africans have been eliminated in this exact round in the last two tournaments. As one of the six group winners, Mali moved on in the competition. Mali’s performance in this tournament has been largely attributed to their strong defense. The Malians have only let up one goal in their first three games, and they have only let up two goals in their four AFCON qualification games.
Although they haven’t played a clean sheet in their past two games, Burkina Faso hasn’t played particularly poorly on defense in recent competitive games. In four of their last six competitive games, Hubert Velud’s team conceded fewer than 1.5 goals, while the same number of games concluded with fewer than 2.5 goals.
