30/04: Daily Predictions: Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

Betting Tips

German powerhouse Bayern Munich and Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid square off in the first leg of an exciting semi-final on Tuesday night at Allianz Arena. This comes immediately after both dashed English dreams of Champions League glory.

Thomas Tuchel’s troops navigated their way past Arsenal in the last eight, while the 14-time winners of Europe’s premier tournament eliminated holders Manchester City in a nerve-jangling penalty shootout. A Joshua Kimmich header handed Bayern Munich a 1-0 win over Arsenal in the second leg in Bavaria after the first leg in north London finished 2-2, while Real Madrid dumped holders Manchester City out on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate scoreline.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid is currently the clear favorite in the Champions League, but as the European heavyweights get ready to battle it out in the semifinals, it would be folly to write off a deadly Bayern Munich team. The Bernabeu giants were also underdogs in the quarterfinals, but they persevered admirably to break Manchester City’s dominance of Europe and advance at the Etihad Stadium via penalties.

With Carlo Ancelotti’s team comfortably leading La Liga and Bayern having already ceded their Bundesliga title to Leverkusen, both teams are free to focus on the Champions League in the closing weeks of the season.

Even if this season hasn’t been great by Bayern Munich’s standards, manager Thomas Tuchel still has the opportunity to send the team into the seventh European championship. Additionally, Tuchel has a strong track record in the Champions League. He won the trophy as Chelsea’s manager a year after finishing second with PSG in 2020.

But Ancelotti’s CV has four Champions League triumphs on it and few managers are better at delivering on the big stage. He has already guided Real Madrid to glory twice in this tournament and it would take a brave man to bet against him to make it a hat-trick this season.

Real Madrid has defeated this team three times in their Champions League meetings during the last ten years. The last two meetings have been thrilling; in 2017, the Spaniards needed extra time to win 6-3 overall, but a year later, they prevailed 4-3 over two legs.

With 13 Real Madrid wins, 12 Bayern Munich victories, and only three ties, the head-to-head record has been far closer overall.

There were lots of goals in both of the quarterfinals, and both clubs should have plenty of firepower in this semifinal. Real Madrid needs to be fired up and confident going into this first-leg match.

Last time out, Ancelotti decided to start a second-string team against Real Sociedad, and on Friday night, they managed to defeat the Basque club 1-0. That will have allowed Real Madrid’s key players plenty of rest, and it’s a big plus that Jude Bellingham will be back after missing time due to illness.

In the ten previous meetings between these bitter rivals, the wager “both teams to score” has paid off six times, while “at least four goals” has occurred five times. Real Madrid scored two goals per game on average, while Bayern Munich scored 1.4. In seven of their last 10 games in all competitions, Bayern Munich saw over 2.5 goals scored, and throughout this run, they averaged three goals. Five of Real Madrid’s past 10 games have seen over 2.5 goals scored; they have scored 2.2 goals overall in those contests.

The favorite to win the match in Bavaria is Real Madrid, but it might be close.
