20-08-23 Daily Football Predictions: England vs Spain

Betting Tips

The Women’s World Cup 2023 winner will be determined on Sunday when Spain Women host England Women in Sydney, capping off a month of exhilarating action.

While both nations aim to win the Women’s World Cup for the first time. Spain is seeking its first big title. It seems appropriate that these two teams. Both teams, who entered the competition as the best teams according to oddsmakers, should reach the final.

England vs Spain

In addition to the current European crown, England is vying for the global one. They had previously lost two Women’s World Cup semi-final matches, but a 3-1 victory over Australia qualified them for this championship game. Since their men’s team won the World Cup in 1966, it is the first one that an England team has made it to.

England won all three of their group matches to start these finals. They weren’t particularly outstanding in victories over Haiti (which seems like a lifetime ago) and Denmark, but they picked up the tempo while defeating China 6-1. They defeated Nigeria on penalties in the knockout rounds before coming back to defeat Colombia 2-1.

In their last two games, both teams have scored, giving them a total of three for the competition. The Lionesses have gone eight games without a loss and have only once dropped a game under Sarina Wiegman.

Spain qualified for the Women’s World Cup finals for the first time in 2015. They have never advanced past the final sixteen before. They defeated Costa Rica and Zambia in their opening two group matches, but they fell to Japan 4-0 in the championship game. On that day, the Spaniards didn’t appear to be world champions.

However, they have since improved and defeated Switzerland 5-1 in the round of 16. They defeated the Netherlands in the quarterfinals before defeating Sweden in the final four with a last-second goal. Both teams have scored in each of Spain’s last three games, and in each of their previous four games.

Verdict

Both sides have many reasons to feel confident about winning this championship. Spain has scored more goals than any other team and has won all but one of its six games played, while England is unbeaten and has let up fewer goals than any of the other four teams still in the competition.

England secured their position in the championship game with a thrilling 3:1 victory against tournament co-hosts Australia, and Spain did the same with a 2:1 victory over Sweden.

More goals have been scored in recent games than at the start of this competition. Spain has experienced BTTS in all three of its most recent games, while England has seen the same result in three of its last four.

Lauren James could come back into the England side, but Sarina Wiegman may opt to stick with Ella Toone after her goalscoring display against the Matildas. One player who will almost certainly be in the first XI, however, is Lauren Hemp, and she looks a strong contender for an anytime goal after hitting three goals in the last four games for England.
