Dinamo Zagreb, the most decorated team in Croatia, lost to Hajduk from Split 1-2 on the opening day of the season at their “Maksimir” stadium, therefore ending their chances of retaining their championship.
However, Igor Biscan’s team shouldn’t let a poor start to the domestic championship season affect their performance. As a matter of fact, the Zagreb team won the Croatian Supercup in mid-July. Defeating Hajduk 1-0 in the championship match. This victory will give them confidence going into Astana’s arrival.
The Croatian Dinamo, in contrast to the Georgian one, will be a significant challenge for the Kazakhs. The Blues have increasingly frequently made it to the group stage of Europe’s toughest competition.They have the advantage of experience in the two-legged match against Astana. Astana has only ever made it to that stage of the Champions League once, in the 2015-16 season.
The Zagreb club will have a home advantage in addition to experience and a better roster.
