Against the other teams in this group, the Netherlands won that match. They are already assured a spot in the play-offs due to their Nations League performance, but they won’t want to go down that path. This group has progressed nicely since that terrible first game against France.
Ireland, Greece, and Gibraltar have all been defeated. The latter, though, proved difficult for the Oranje, as they had to overcome a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1. They will travel to Greece after this match, and that will be a major factor in determining who advances to the finals automatically.
Verdict
Currently occupying the top two spots in Group B are France and the Netherlands. France has won all five of its preliminary matches, whereas the Netherlands has won three and lost one of their four. The Netherlands’ domestic league doesn’t appear all that good right now. Three of their last four home games ended in losses. France, however, is playing well on the road. Out of their last five away games, they have won three.
Currently, France has prevailed in two of the previous three meetings between the two teams at this venue. As a result, we anticipate that France will defeat this Dutch team on Friday.
Not only have they scored in all five of their group stage matches thus far, but in their last 12 competitive games, they have only failed to score once, that being in a dead rubber match against Tunisia during the World Cup last year. Because of this, Les Bleus ought to deal at least one blow to a Dutch team that, in their most recent qualifier, was unable to shut out a timid Republic of Ireland team. But Holland is also strong in the latter third, so several goals should be scored in this match.
